Transition Year Art Students Shine in Spectacular Junk Kouture Show
This week, our Transition Year Art students wowed audiences with two dazzling evenings of Junk Kouture performances, along with a special matinee show for our 3rd Year students. The event was a celebration of creativity, sustainability, and teamwork, as students transformed everyday waste materials into stunning fashion masterpieces. The designs showcased during the high-energy show were the result of months of hard work, evolving from single ideas or humble materials into extraordinary wearable art. From coffee pods to recycled cans, paper cups, netting, fabric scraps, and even old toys, no material was off-limits in the pursuit of sustainable fashion. Both solo designers and teams poured their hearts into crafting these innovative creations, proving that art and sustainability can go hand in hand.
The Junk Kouture show was more than just a fashion showcase—it was a full sensory experience. The students brought their creations to life with striking hair and makeup designs, dynamic choreography, and an electric atmosphere enhanced by carefully curated music and lighting. Each performance demonstrated not only the artistic talent of our students but also their ability to collaborate, think critically, and push creative boundaries.
A special acknowledgment goes to our incredible Art Department team—Ms. Lennon, Ms. Bailey, and Mr. Kilgarriff—whose guidance and encouragement helped bring this event to fruition. Their dedication and passion for fostering creativity among our students truly shone through. Well done to all the students who participated in this unforgettable event. Your hard work and ingenuity have inspired our school community and reminded us of the power of art to create change.
