Student Council Elections 2024

Over the last week the Student Council held elections for 1st, 3rd, and 5th Year students, and we extend a huge congratulations to all the candidates who participated. Each student displayed admirable confidence, determination, and creativity in their campaigns and whether or not they were elected, every candidate can take pride in their efforts – speaking in front of hundreds of peers is no small feat, and each candidate represented themselves with courage and poise. Our Student Council plays a vital role in promoting the democratic process within the school, allowing students to have a voice and actively contribute to school life. From delivering compelling speeches to organizing poster campaigns, candidates demonstrated their commitment to representing their peers. The Student Council collaborates closely with the Senior Management Team throughout the year, ensuring that student opinions are heard and considered in decisions that affect the entire school community. Well done to all candidates, and we look forward to the fantastic work the Council will achieve this year.

Ember Team Commissioning Ceremony

The Ember Team were commissioned in a special ceremony led by Bishop Paul Dempsey last week which marked the end to their training in Ovoca Manor. The girls chose the Team name “Loreto Lightbearers” to symbolise their hope to bring the light of faith to the school community over the next year. They have great plans for the year ahead, we wish them the very best as they begin their journey as Faith Leaders within our school. Thank you to the Archdiocese of Dublin for the brilliant training course they provide to the students of Ember. The Ember team members for this academic year are: Eiman Mona Iftikhar, Tsion Tarekue Tesfaye, Aoife Malone, Tess Doherty, Bronagh McCormack, Emer Fanning, Katie Finnegan, Emma Dowling and Ruby Rose Carberry.

1st Year Check-in Time

This week at our school was all about connection and care. Our 1st Year students spent some time bonding with their Form classes and the school Chaplains, with some games, and warm cups of hot chocolate paired with delicious treats. This special time provided our newest students with a chance to unwind, have fun, and build connections in a comfortable and supportive setting. Activities organised by the Chaplains focused on helping students get to know each other better, fostering a sense of belonging and community. As they settle into their new school environment, it’s vital for our 1st Years to feel supported and valued, and this gathering was a wonderful step towards that goal.
