Mary Ward Week: Embracing Truth and Sincerity

This week, we celebrated the inspiring legacy of Mary Ward under the theme of Truth and Sincerity. Our foundress, Mary Ward, dedicated her life to promoting justice, sincerity, truth, freedom and joy, values that continue to inspire our school today. Her vision of empowering young women through knowledge and faith remains at the core of our  ethos. Throughout the week, students participated in a variety of engaging activities that encouraged reflection on the importance of living authentically and embracing truth in our daily lives.

One of the highlights of the week was the Ember Team Daily Truths, which provided students with inspiring affirmations each day to reflect upon and carry forward. These daily truths reminded everyone of the importance of being true to oneself and fostering an environment of mutual respect and understanding.

Monday:
“To shine your brightest light is to be who you truly are.”

Tuesday:
“Accept each other’s quirks with grace!”

Wednesday:
“Social media is not a reflection on real life, and no place to judge your worth.”

Thursday:
“You are enough today, you were enough yesterday and you will be enough tomorrow, so remain true to yourself always.”

Friday:
“As long as you stay true to yourself, you will always find happiness in life.”

Other activites included a 1st Year Scavenger Hunt, where students explored different aspects of truth in a fun and interactive way. Students across the school also had the opportunity to make truth pledges on our Truth Tree, a powerful reminder of our commitment to sincerity and integrity.

We were fortunate enough to be visited by past-pupil, talented musician and speaker, Farah Elle, who engaged our 5th and 2nd Year students in meaningful discussions on truth and self-expression. Her insights resonated deeply, inspiring students to embrace their own journeys with honesty and courage. Meanwhile, our 6th Year Assembly provided a reflective and meaningful space for our senior students to consider the role of truth in their lives as they prepare to embark on their next chapters. The assembly served as a fitting reminder of Mary Ward’s values and the importance of authenticity in leadership and decision-making.

Although some activities had to be postponed due to the storm, the spirit of truth continues to shine brightly within our school community. Plans are already in place to continue events next week, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to participate and reflect on this important theme.

Thank you to all students, staff, and special guests who contributed to making this week a truly inspiring experience.
