Loreto Balbriggan Junk Kouture: From Dublin to the World Stage
We are delighted to announce that two of our Junk Kouture designs successfully reached the Dublin City Final at the RDS this week. “Lir’s Child,” created by Caitlin Clarke and Amy Rose Lynam, along with “Iri-de-scent” by Laoise O’Connor, were standout entries among a remarkable lineup of young designers from across the country. For the first time, the Dublin City Final was streamed live worldwide via the RTÉ Player, giving viewers across the globe a chance to witness this innovative event.
Huge congratulations go to Caitlin and Amy Rose, whose design, inspired by Irish landscapes and folklore, particularly the legend of the Children of Lir, has advanced to the Junk Kouture World Final. Their creation beautifully combines denim sourced from charity shops with manipulated plastic milk cartons, creating feathered textures reminiscent of the swans in the story. Dried materials evoke the natural elements of lake shores, adding further depth to their design.
They will now compete on a global stage next year, with finalists from major fashion capitals such as Paris, New York, Milan, London, and Dubai—a truly incredible achievement!
