Celebrating Success: National Recognition for Our Students in Applied Technology

Last weekend, the Engineering Technology Teacher’s Association (ETTA) held their Annual Conference and A.G.M. in Sligo. A highlight of this event was the National Awards Ceremony, which honored students who achieved the highest marks nationwide in their subject, combining both the written exam and project work. We are thrilled to announce that three students from our school, Cara Mullen, Kate Kearney, and Emmalise O’Boyle, were recognized for achieving top marks overall in Common Level Junior Cycle Applied Technology 2024. At the event, they were presented with prestigious Certificates of Achievement to celebrate this remarkable accomplishment. This is a testament to the incredible dedication, talent, and hard work of these students and their teacher, Ms. McAdams. The passion these students have for technology shines brightly, and their success highlights the bright future that lies ahead for them.

When asked about their experience studying Applied Technology, the students shared inspiring reflections:

  • “Technology is a fun, engaging subject that helps us to understand how the world around us works. I have always enjoyed using my own ideas and creativity, then applying them to exciting innovations!”
  • “Junior Cycle Technology was a wonderful opportunity to improve upon practical skills, which made it completely unique to any of my other subjects.”
  • “I think that Technology is a really unique subject as it combines practical work and theory. It was a great way to express my creativity while also learning about a subject that is very important in modern life.”

We are incredibly proud of Cara, Kate, and Emmalise for this outstanding achievement. Their love and passion for the subject, coupled with the excellent guidance of Ms. McAdams, have culminated in this well-deserved recognition. Congratulations to all involved!
