TY Students Named Finalists in Certified Irish Angus Schools Competition
Yesterday marked a truly fantastic milestone for our school community as we celebrated the outstanding achievement of Transition Year students, Grace Allen and Emer Dawson. The talented pair were announced as one of the five finalist groups in the Certified Irish Angus Schools Competition—an incredible accomplishment, and a first for our school. Grace and Emer have been passionately researching the challenges facing the Beef Production System in Ireland with the support of their teacher Mr. Doyle. Their hard work and dedication shone through during their exhibition event at Croke Park, where they impressed judges with their thoughtful insights and innovative approach to sustainable agriculture.
As a result of their success, Grace and Emer have now progressed to the next stage of the competition, where they have been awarded five Angus calves. Over the next 18 months, the girls will help rear the calves while continuing their research project—a unique opportunity that blends classroom learning with real-world experience. This achievement is a proud moment not just for Grace and Emer, but for our entire school community. It’s the first time we’ve entered the competition, making this success all the more special.
The girls are thrilled about what lies ahead and eager to put their learning into action. We are so excited to follow along on their journey—so stay tuned for updates and join us in supporting them every step of the way!

A huge congratulations to Cerys, Emma, Hayley, and Emer, who were crowned the winning team! They delivered their arguments with impressive fluency, confidence, and flair—demonstrating not only their command of French but also their persuasive skills and teamwork.
