Celebrating Creativity and Future Choices: Junk Kouture International Final and Senior Cycle Fair 2025
Loreto Balbriggan Prepares to Shine on the International Stage at the Junk Kouture Final
Excitement is building as two of our 5th Year students prepare to take the stage at the Junk Kouture World Final on March 4, 2025, at The Helix. Our talented young designers, Caitlin Clarke and Amy Rose Lynam, have worked tirelessly to transform recycled materials into breathtaking high-fashion creations, showcasing their innovation, creativity, and commitment to sustainability. Junk Kouture is more than just a fashion competition—it is a movement that challenges students to rethink waste and explore the possibilities of upcycling. By repurposing everyday items into wearable art, participants are engaging in a powerful form of activism, spreading awareness about environmental sustainability while pushing the boundaries of fashion design.
Loreto Balbriggan’s students have already made a remarkable impression, having been featured in a recent Irish Times article highlighting the impact of Junk Kouture across Irish schools. Now, they will compete against top young designers from Ireland, the UK, Italy, France, the USA, and the UAE, all vying for the prestigious title of World Designer of the Year.
As they step onto the international stage, we wish them the very best of luck! Their creativity, passion, and dedication to sustainable fashion are truly inspiring, and we are immensely proud of their achievements. No matter the outcome, they have already made an incredible impact by demonstrating the power of innovation and environmental consciousness.
Senior Cycle Subject Choice Fair 2025
There was an incredible buzz of energy, enthusiasm, and curiosity on Friday as 3rd-year students engaged with senior students at the Senior Cycle Subject Choice Fair 2025. With 20 senior cycle option subjects available, this event provided a fantastic opportunity for students to explore their choices, ask questions, and gain valuable insights from those who have already embarked on their senior cycle journey.
The fair was designed to help students make informed decisions about their future studies. Throughout the event, 3rd Year students had the chance to observe live experiments, view impressive project work, and discuss course content with Senior Prefects. These firsthand experiences allowed them to better understand what each subject entails and how it aligns with their interests and career aspirations.
In addition to peer interaction, the Guidance Department and subject teachers played a crucial role in supporting students during this important decision-making process. Over the course of three days, they delivered informative presentations, offering detailed insights into subject requirements, workload expectations, and potential career pathways. Their expertise and guidance ensured that students left the fair feeling more confident and prepared to make their subject selections.
The Senior Cycle Subject Choice Fair 2025 was a resounding success, fostering an atmosphere of curiosity and engagement. As 3rd Year students take the next step in their academic journey, they are now equipped with the knowledge and understanding needed to make choices that best suit their strengths, interests, and future ambitions.
