We, at Loreto Balbriggan, expect pupils to aim for high academic standards. We offer a curriculum that is balanced, integrated and stimulating. The school is continually reviewing and adapting its curriculum to the educational requirements of a rapidly changing world. We are currently preparing for the significant changes at senior cycle level which will be rolled out over the next few years. Those entering 5th year in 2009 will be following the revised curriculum and assessment arrangements in all subjects. The roll out begins in September, the new and revised subject specifications will be open to 5th years in Biology/Physics/Chemistry/Business/Arabic/Greek and Latin.

Senior Cycle Programme

Students take any four optional subjects. Under the revised Transition Year Programme, which will come into effect in September, they will have the opportunity to sample 12 subjects over the course of TY to help them make an informed choice. It is strongly recommended that one of the subjects chosen is a modern European language, such as French, Spanish, or German. More than one language can be chosen if the student so wishes.
