The Spirit of Christmas

On Friday we held our annual St Vincent de Paul collection. Both staff and students got into the Christmas spirit by wearing their Christmas jumpers to school. Some of the members of the student council along with Mr. Cox, aka Santa braved the freezing temperatures to collect at the school gates while others sold chocolate and raffle tickets, to raise as much as possible for the charity. The senior choir added to the festive atmosphere, singing carols while the school trad group made a special appearance at the train station cheering up commuters at the end of a busy week with their beautiful melodies. At break time Ms. Ryan’s sign language choir performed ‘Golden Slumbers’ by the Beatles and there was a surprise performance from the staff choir at lunchtime who sang some well known Christmas songs, much to the students’ delight. Many thanks to the many local businesses who donated fabulous prizes for the raffle and to those who gave so generously to our collection today. € 6,050 was raised which is a phenomenal amount and all proceeds will go to the local branch of Vincent de Paul which does such fantastic work in the area.

Transition Year News

Each year transition year students decide upon a theme for the year group. This year’s theme is Shine. A committee was then formed and they worked closely with a designer over the past few weeks to create a badge that the students will wear. On Thursday all TY students received their badges. Many thanks to the TY theme committee who designed the badge for their year group.
