March 12th
On Thursday, March 11th second year students Jessica Chen and Bushra Alameen Betro took part in the semi final of the UCD Junior Schools debate competition. This was the first time Loreto Balbriggan had made it to this stage of the competition. The girls were opposing the motion “This House Believes that the Message of Art Should be Decided by the Audience and not the Artist” and made some great points in their speeches. Unfortunately, due to stiff competition our team did not progress to the final however, the girls had a fantastic experience learned a lot about debating via Zoom! Congratulations to Jessica and Bushra for making it this far and we look forward to taking part next year
TY News.
TY students had an important virtual assembly on Wednesday. The girls had chosen the theme of ‘Resilience’as their theme for the year. We commend the girls for having truly embraced their theme. They have faced many challenges and each time rose to them and are stronger for it. Each student had received their resilience badge through the post and wore it with pride for the occasion. We would like to thank Mr Pat Murphy who, along with the students helped design and produce the badges and to guest speaker, past pupil Rachael Moore, counsellor and psychotherapist who gave a very worthwhile and uplifting talk to the girls.
