On Friday the Lorbal Times Newspaper Committee published the very first edition of the school newspaper. Students across all year groups have come together to create a virtual space to share with staff and students what has been going on this year in school. There are articles on topical issues and events, interviews with teachers, links to videos they have created, festive recipes and much more! Please click on the link below to read the Lorbal Times in full.
TY students were busy this week decorating their Christmas cakes, with some very creative results.
On Friday morning the whole school’s mood was lifted when Ms. McDonough read http://”’Twas the Day of the Holidays by Karen Davis. Ms. Davis is one of the English teachers in the school. The poem very cleverly accounts for all the efforts we have made as a school community to stay safe during these very unusual times.
The student council brightened up many students’ lives this week with their random acts of kindness. Each day a number of students were randomly selected to receive a festive treat. Many thanks to the student council for organising this lovely initiative.
Congratulations to all the students who were recognised for their excellent attendance and also to those students who were commended for their positive behaviour this week.
In early December TY students attended a ‘Women in Sport’ talk given by three elite sports athletes who are members of the teaching staff. Inter-county players Muireann Atkinson (Monaghan) Sarah Rowe (Mayo) and international rugby player Michelle Claffey gave exceptional and inspirational advice to the girls. The talk is now available on the TY podcast. Please click on the link below to listen to the podcast.
